CII UBL EN 16931

CII to UBL Converter

Got a CII invoice but need to put it on Peppol? Drop it in and get back UBL, the syntax the network actually carries, with every value preserved.

When you would reach for this

Your data arrived as CII, but Peppol wants UBL. This is the step that gets it onto the network.

The Same Invoice, Two Syntaxes

CII and UBL are both ways of writing the EN 16931 model. Parties, lines, tax groups, and totals cross over exactly as they are, with no re-keying.

The Syntax Peppol Carries

Access points on the network exchange UBL. Starting from CII, this hands you the UBL an access point can actually pick up and deliver.

Nothing Leaves Our Memory

Your XML is handled in memory over an encrypted connection and dropped as soon as the UBL comes back. We keep no copy.

One Drop, One Download

No install, no account. Drop the CII file, and the UBL is ready to download seconds later.

How It Works

Three steps from a CII file to Peppol-ready UBL.

Step 1

Drop In the CII File

Add your UN/CEFACT Cross Industry Invoice XML, by drag and drop or a quick browse.

Step 2

We Remap the Data

The converter pulls the EN 16931 terms out of your CII document and writes them back as a UBL 2.1 invoice.

Step 3

Take the UBL File

The UBL XML downloads at once, ready to hand to a Peppol access point or a UBL-based system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What to know before converting CII to UBL.

Two syntaxes for one model. Both write the EN 16931 European invoice in XML; CII (Cross Industry Invoice) is the UN/CEFACT syntax behind hybrid formats such as Factur-X and ZUGFeRD, while UBL is the syntax the Peppol network exchanges.
It is valid EN 16931 UBL. Before it travels over Peppol it also needs electronic addresses (a seller and buyer Endpoint ID with a scheme), which the Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 overlay requires. If your source CII had none, add them, then run the file through the validator to confirm.
No invoice content is dropped: both syntaxes share the same business terms. The only thing to watch is the Peppol electronic-address requirement noted above, which is a network rule rather than a conversion limit.
EN 16931 Cross Industry Invoice files, including the CII carried inside Factur-X and ZUGFeRD hybrid invoices.
Never. The file is processed in memory over an encrypted connection and discarded the moment the UBL is returned.
